After settling along the banks of the Chattahoochee River in the 1500´s, the Cherokee Indians called what is now North Fulton the "enchanted land". Today, our communities – Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta, Mountain Park and Johns Creek – continue to provide an exceptionally enchanting way of life. From busy urban settings to casual, country living, you´ll find the perfect place to call home in North Fulton.
South Fulton is the headquarters of such notable corporations as Delta Air Lines and Chick-fil-A along with the Georgia International Convention Center and the Federal Aviation Administration. To top it off, Fulton Industrial Park, the largest contiguous industrial park east of the Mississippi River, lies near I-20 and I-285 and is home for countless businesses, many with familiar household names.
Fulton County Attractions
Piedmont Park
The city's outdoor recreation center, this park has been a popular destination since the late 19th century. Tennis courts, a swimming pool, and paths for walking, jogging, and rollerblading are part of the attraction, but many retreat to the park's great lawn for picnics with a smashing view of the Midtown skyline. Each April the park hosts the popular Dogwood Festival.
Peachtree Road Race
On July 4, 1970 in Atlanta, a group of just over 100 runners made history, just by running down the street. What began that day as a simple fun run has grown over the past forty years into one of the city’s signature events and favorite Fourth of July traditions. Each year on this date, 55,000 runners gather at Lenox Mall to run 6.2 miles south on Peachtree Street in the largest 10K road race in the world. Along the way, they are cheered by almost 150,000 spectators and aided by more than 3,000 dedicated volunteers.
Centennial Olympic Park
Lake Lanier touches seven Georgia counties: Dawson, Forsyth, Habersham, Hall, Gwinnett, Lumpkin and White. The confluence of the Chattahoochee and Chestatee Rivers and many creeks and streams provides a continuous flow of fresh water for the lake. As part of the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint waterway system, this fresh water then becomes a source of drinking water for millions of Georgians. Internationally recognized for its resources, tourist attractions and beauty, Lake Lanier was the host venue for the 1996 Olympic Canoeing and Kayak events.
